Cuyamaca Cares Services During Campus Closure

Food Pantry (F-720)- Closed during campus closure. See the food bank neighborhood distribution list on the left for continued service.

Food Programs in the Community- Students can email for a list of food programs in the local community.

CalFresh- Students can email for information regarding the CalFresh program.

Emergency Assistance Funds- Students can apply for emergency funding through the "Emergency Assistance Fund" sub-page or the "Emergency Assistance Fund Flyer" on the left. Email for any questions.

Housing Referrals- Students can contact for housing referral information.

Personal Counseling Services- The Personal Counselors will provide phone sessions. Students can call (619) 660-4200 or email to schedule a counseling session.

Cuyamaca Cares Overview


It is the mission of Cuyamaca Cares to dismantle social stigma surrounding basic needs insecurities by providing food, housing and counseling resources in an accessible, inclusive and dignified manner.

On The House

On the House combats student food insecurity through the following programs:

  • The Fresh Joint
    • Free fruits and vegetables
  • Mobile Produce Market
  • Bring Your Own Bag Tuesdays
    • Every Tuesday by the main pantry
  • Satellite Pantries
    • 5 pantries located around campus
  • Care Baskets
    • Snack baskets for students placed in faculty offices
  • CalFresh Resources, Outreach and Referrals

Housing Resources

Housing resources aims to assist housing insecure and homeless students through:

  • Urban Angels partnership 
    • Provides emergency shelter for students (limited bed space)
  • Veterans Village of San Diego partnership 
    • For homeless veteran students
  • Home Start partnership
    • Student focused rapid rehousing and case management
  • Care Fair
    • Resource fair for housing resources and wraparound services (twice per semester)

Holistic Self Care

Cuyamaca Cares aims to support students through personal issues with:

  • Personal counseling
    • Counselors are available to talk with students about any issue
  • Located in the Health and Wellness Center (I-134)
  • Drop in service and appointments available

Emergency Assistance Fund

Cuyamaca Cares can provide students with up to $250 to navigate financial emergencies, such as:

  • Housing/utility assistance
  • Emergency auto repair
  • Child care
  • Bus pass
  • And more
