November 2020 Newsletter
Greetings! My name is Josh Franco and I am serving as the college’s Open Educational Resources Liaison (OERL) this academic year. I am following in the footsteps of Karla Gutiérrez, Assistant Professor of Spanish and Chair of World Languages Department, who served as the college OERL last academic year.
One of my responsibilities is to share monthly communications from the ASCCC Open Educational Resources Initiative (OERI) with faculty, staff, students, and administrators. Below are four announcements related to OER for the month of November.
Cuyamaca College’s OER webpage
Please visit and bookmark the college’s Open Education Resources webpage. The webpage defines OER, explains why OER is important, list examples of OER, links to OER resources, and shares ways I can help you with OER, as the college’s Liaison.
ASCCC OERI Wants You
The ASCCC OERI is currently recruiting faculty in the following disciplines for OER work to be initiated before the end of the term and continuing into the new year:
- Communication Studies
- English as a Second Language
- Nursing
- Psychology
Applications need to be submitted by Friday, November 13.
In addition, we are currently seeking faculty to review OER in a long list of disciplines and Discipline Leads for Spring 2021. If you are interested in any of these opportunities – or in OER work more generally – please submit an application.
Articulation, Curriculum, and OER
As an element of our response to ASCCC Resolution 09.03 (Spring 2019; Documenting Open Educational Resources Options in Course Outline of Record) and to address your questions, we have developed a document titled “Articulation, Curriculum, and Open Educational Resources” that provides a summary of the statements from our primary transfer partners about OER and offers ideas for how to make OER a part of your local curriculum process. We are pleased to share the finalized document with you.
When you access the webpage, you will also have access to a PDF designed for printing.
