Santa Clara University. After teaching as an adjunct psychology instructor at
Grossmont College,
San Diego State University, and MiraCosta College, he became a founding member of the full-time faculty at
Cuyamaca College. At Cuyamaca College, he served as Chair of the Behavioral Sciences, coordinated psychology since the college's opening, and pioneered in the use of multimedia and online (distance) learning. He continued to also teach at San Diego State University for 25 years.
Dr. Doyle's courses have included Introductory Psychology, Human Sexuality, Developmental Psychology, Individual Adjustment, Learning, Perception, and Abnormal Psychology. He has taught Native-Americans at the Viejas Reservation in Alpine, CA, and
Camp Pendleton Marines
at MiraCosta College. At SDSU, besides teaching upper and lower division courses, he was an interim director of graduate teaching assistants, participated in the experimental interdisciplinary program "Coordinated Freshman Studies," and taught in the Honors Psychology program.
In addition to his commitment to teaching, Dr. Doyle has authored an Instructor's Manual and lecture transparencies for Rod Plotnik's
Introduction to Psychology
textbook. Always interested in using new technology and exploring alternative delivery methods, he taught in the
Telecourse program
for 15 years, was a pioneer in online instruction at Cuyamaca College, and
developed the original online teaching resource site for the college (Teaching Online).
Dr. Doyle developed and published six versions of the interactive multimedia project, PowerStudy for Introduction to Psychology, on both CD and DVD. The project was integrated into many
Introductory Psychology courses over its 13-year run.
Next, he designed interactive animation storyboards for the first online edition of the
Discovery Series
edition of the Plotnik/Kouyoumdjian Introductory Psychology
textbook. He is currently designing an interactive, multimedia Web Site (intoPsych.com) and a YouTube channel (intoPsych).
