Certificate of Achievement Environmental Technician
In the United States, California is a pioneer in environmental protection and sustainability
initiatives, leading to a demand for environmental technicians and specialists in
various industries and regions. The EHSM department offers students practical training,
comprehensive regulatory understanding, and hands-on work experience in air, water,
hazardous waste, solid waste, and pollution prevention topics. The program covers
a broad range of environmental issues that impact local, state, federal, and global
populations, with an emphasis on culturally sensitive management techniques.

*The EHSM Department suggests taking EHSM 100 in your first semester because it's required for EHSM 150, 200, 210, and 215. If unable to complete prior to the other courses, contact the instructor for prerequisite waiver.
Environmental Technician Duties
Perform laboratory and field tests to monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution, including those that affect health, under the direction of an environmental scientist, engineer, or other specialist. May collect samples of gases, soil, water, and other materials for testing.
