Recording Narration

Microphone
  • Use a small inexpensive microphone (USB connection), digital camera recorder, smart phone, or iPod
  • Edit with inexpensive OS programs (see more in Multimedia)
  • Include practice sessions with a prewritten script (many do better with spontaneous recording with just outline notes to keep on-topic)
  • Do a dialog, interview, or debate with someone else
  • Break into short sessions (a few minutes long, not over 10 minutes for one narration)
  • If you are timing narration to a screen (PowerPoint or graphic) make the length of narration brief for each screen
